DAY 2 | Tuesday, August 25, 2026 | CERN
900 am – 1000 am Welcome
CERN hosts and TWIN Expedition leaders welcome the group, set context for the day, and frame CERN as a model for radical openness, shared infrastructure, and frontier research.
1000 am – 100 pm CERN Tour with Leadership and Researchers
A three-hour guided experience across CERN with key leaders and researchers, exploring CERN’s scientific mission, infrastructure, governance model, and lessons for global research communities.
100 pm – 145 pm LUNCH ON SITE
145 pm – 300 pm Radical Openness as a Strategy for AI Investment & Policy
Switzerland is promulgating an AI strategy called “radical openness.” What is it, how might it work and what might it mean for AI investment, policy, governance, and shared technological infrastructure?
300 pm – 430 pm QUANTUM?!?
If there is a place in the Newtonian World that might claim to be an epicenter for Quantum Science, it’s CERN. We’ll explore inexplicable theory, infrastructure, talent, strategy, policy, and venture opportunities with people engaged in all of the above. Some might join us from other universes—but we won’t know until we open the box.

Participants gather at tables to discuss what they have learned, what surprised them, and the open questions they want the room to address.
515 pm – 530 pm All-Group Discussion
Each table shares key insights and open questions with the full group, including a few thoughts about our plans for tomorrow’s sessions.
530 pm – 700 pm SHUTTLES TO GENEVA & BREAK
Transition from CERN to the N’vy Hotel. Enjoy a break before re-convening for a Swiss special—LOTS OF CHEESE!

Led by ON Venture Studio, participants use AI-enabled venture-building methods to explore research commercialization pathways, market theses, policy issues, and investable opportunities.

Participants propose conversation topics, then select the conversation in which they prefer to participate.

Be prepared to share what most impressed, concerned, inspired, confused, etc. you, and explore what it all might mean. We’ll develop some action items for each other and possibly together following the Expedition.
