How secure is BlankIT?
BlankIT runs on Azure in Northern Europe. It will upload your document over an encrypted line to the server, where the document is processed – before it is returned. The server will not store or make a copy of the document. It is just data in – and data out.
The only thing that is stored is the timestamp and length of the document that was processed. This kind of information is useful for balancing the server load and to monitor usage.
As for usernames and passwords, BlankIT uses a state-of-the-art hashing algorithm to store all passwords. This means that if someone got access to the BlankIT server, they would not be able to retrieve any user passwords. BlankIT has also undergone extensive penetration testing. No potential vulnerabilities were identified.
What languages does BlankIT ‘understand’?
BlankIT is tested and developed to understand English and Norwegian. However, in most cases it should work for the major European languages. Please contact support@blankit.no if you are interested in running BlankIT on other languages than English or Norwegian.
What file formats does BlankIT support?
BlankIT reads .docx, .pdf and .txt files. Currently it does not support old .doc files. Also, please be aware that some pdf-files only contain images (even it looks like text). These images will not be read in as text. We recommend that such files first are passed through an OCR-tool to turn the images into text. Please contact if you need help on this issue.
A special name, address or item was not removed by BlankIT. How can I fix it?
BlankIT has an option to type in a list of words that you want to remove. That should be a good temporary fix.
We would also like you to sent examples (documents) to or when you see things that were not properly removed. This will help us improve the program.
How good is BlankIT on removing relevant GDPR sensitive information?
It is hard to answer this question. Generally, we see that BlankIT removes 95-98% of all items. This is probably comparable to what one can expect from a well-rested an associate lawyer. Now, if the associate must do a lot of this boring manual work, he or she is very likely to complain. BlankIT does not complain.
BlankIT does not guarantee anything. To be fully GDPR compliant, a human should always check the results – and manually identify and fix any potential problems. Working in tandem with a human, BlankIT will ensure that your organization is GDPR compliant.
